The browser-based Metadata[1] Viewer app has a simple interface to quickly and easily discover all the hidden metadata of your PSD[2] file and every layer of it.
There are two simple ways to use our PSD Metadata Viewer:
- Drag your file in any of the supported formats to the relevant space;
- Upload a file in any of the supported formats from your device.
Supported formats are PSD and PSB. Uncompressed or compressed with RAR, ZIP, TAR, or 7Z.
PSD Metadata Viewer is a quick and easy tool for showing all hidden metadata, such as XMP[3] data related to the entire file in XML[4] format, including:
- The program that the file was last opened with;
- Creator tool;
- Operating system;
- File dimensions;
- Color mode;
- Bit depth;
- And many others.
and metadata from its layers too, including:
- Layer creation data;
- Layer type;
- Layer positions.
Text layers include the text content. So you can get access to text layer data to export text from your uploaded files.
The first recorded use of Metadata dates deep to the Great Library of Alexandria in 280 B.C. Nowadays the use is much wider and it is used in many different industries for many different purposes. PSD uses metadata to speed up the workflow, provide digital identification, and organize files and layers. It also makes it easier to understand and analyze the file’s content.
The most common reason to use our Metadata Viewer app for web users is to keep privacy everywhere you want to put your files (photos or documents) because it all contains a digital mark (creation date, location, personal information of your own or your software, etc.). If you can check online the metadata of your files so can anyone else. With our app you can be sure of the private information you are going to share with the world around you.
You will get the all inner information of your PSD or PSB file in a simple to understand table with 3 sections:
- Preview of the image and it layers;
- Description of the metadata source;
- Detailed metadata.
Our app works from any browser on any device. You don’t need to download special software to your device. All discovery and display processes run on our side on our servers so it does not take any resources from your side.
Our app is a virtual instrument powered by Aspose.PSD. All files are processed with Aspose APIs, which are used by many Fortune 100 companies across 114 countries. Our API in .NET or JAVA is useful for developers and comes with great documentation, clear code samples, and an all-dev support team.
- ↑Metadata is hidden data about other data, such as data about additional information of the content or object that reveals information about its features and properties. Metadata is summarizing basic information about data that can make tracking and working with specific data easier.
- ↑PSD (Adobe® Photoshop® Document) is the file format for many versatile and most popular graphic editors. PSD format supports monochrome pictures, multi-channel models, color systems (RGB, CMYK), and grayscale.
- ↑XMP (eXtensible Metadata Platform) is an ISO standard for the digital documents and data sets for the creation, processing, and interchange of standardized and custom metadata.
- ↑XML (eXtensible Markup Language) text format for storing structured data (instead of repetitive file databases), for the exchange of information between programs, as well as for creating more specialized markup languages (for example, XHTML) on its basis. XML is a simplified subset of the SGML language.
