OST to EMF

Convert an Outlook .ost file into a ZIP archive of vector EMF snapshots, one image per message. The tool preserves the original folder hierarchy inside the archive, so you can browse the messages exactly as they were organized in Outlook. It renders each message as a resolution‑independent graphic, ideal for embedding in Windows documents or presentations. Gradient‑framed: the conversion covers message content and inline images, but does not extract separate attachments.

Message‑by‑message rendering into a ZIP archive

The converter opens the uploaded *.ost* file in read‑only mode, extracts each message from its original Outlook folder, and renders it as a separate Enhanced Metafile (*.emf*) image. All images are placed in a single *.zip* file that mirrors the mailbox hierarchy – folders such as Inbox, Sent Items and any subfolders become directories inside the archive, and the messages inside each folder are named sequentially (message_1.emf, message_2.emf, …). This structure lets users browse the result exactly as it was organized in Outlook.

Full visual fidelity of headers, body and inline graphics

Each EMF captures the complete visual layout of the original message: the header block (From, To, Cc, Subject, Date) is rendered at the top, followed by the body with its paragraphs, lists, tables, font styles, colours and any inline images. HTML‑formatted messages keep their original formatting and layout, while plain‑text messages appear as clean flowed text. Inline pictures referenced by content‑ID are baked directly into the image at their display position, producing a self‑contained snapshot.

Vector snapshot suitable for Windows documents

EMF is a resolution‑independent vector format, so the rendered snapshots remain crisp at any zoom level and can be dropped into Word, PowerPoint or other Windows applications as scalable graphics. Because the text is drawn as graphics, the images are not editable or searchable, which makes them ideal for visual archiving or presentation purposes. For workflows that require editable text, the tool’s other export options (DOC, DOCX, HTML, etc.) should be used instead.

Limits and scope

Output format

Creates a ZIP archive containing one EMF file per message; other formats are not included in this output.

Retention

Uploaded OST files and the resulting ZIP archive are removed from the server 24 hours after conversion completes.
