Split an MBOX archive into individual .eml files, each preserving the original headers, body content and attachments. The tool packages the resulting .eml messages into a single ZIP file for easy download. It works well for any standard MBOX from Thunderbird, Apple Mail or similar clients; the tool’s scope is limited to producing a ZIP of the split messages, not other output formats.

Headers preserved

Each generated .eml file contains the original email headers such as From, To, Cc, Subject, Date and Message‑Id exactly as they appear in the source MBOX, ensuring that mail clients can recognise and organise the messages correctly.

Body and HTML formatting retained

The converter writes the message body unchanged; plain‑text parts remain plain text, while HTML parts keep all formatting, links and styling so that the visual appearance in the receiving client matches the original.

Attachments and inline images included

All MIME attachments are copied into the corresponding .eml file, and any inline images retain their Content‑ID references, allowing the images to display inside the message body without extra steps.

FAQ

Are the original email headers (From, To, Subject, etc.) retained in each exported .eml file?

Does the converter keep HTML formatting in the email body?

Yes, HTML parts are written unchanged, preserving links, styling and visual appearance.

What happens to attachments and inline images when the MBOX is split?

All MIME attachments are copied into the corresponding .eml file, and inline images retain their Content‑ID references so they display correctly inside the message.

What is the maximum MBOX file size this converter accepts?

The tool accepts MBOX files up to the upload size limit defined by your account tier; signing in raises the limit above the anonymous allowance.

How long is the generated ZIP file available for download?
