Convert an MBOX mailbox into individual Word 97‑2003 .doc files, one per email. Each document contains the email headers as a metadata block and any inline images, with external images fetched automatically within a short timeout. Gradient‑framed: the tool handles archives up to the free‑tier size limit; larger mailboxes require a paid account to stay within the tool’s scope.

Headers preserved as a metadata block

Each email in the uploaded MBOX archive is converted to a separate Word 97‑2003 .doc file where the From, To, Cc, Subject and Date fields appear at the top as a dedicated metadata block, keeping the original header information intact and easily readable.

Images embedded directly in the document

Images that are already embedded in the original message are transferred unchanged into the DOC file, and external web‑hosted images are fetched automatically during conversion with a short per‑image timeout, ensuring that typical inline graphics appear inline without delaying the overall process.

Legacy Word formatting and ZIP packaging

The body of each email is rendered using the legacy Word 97‑2003 formatting engine, producing fully selectable and searchable text that matches the original layout, and when an MBOX contains multiple messages the resulting .doc files are bundled into a single ZIP archive for convenient download.

Limits and scope

Free‑tier size & batch

Handles MBOX files up to the free‑tier size cap and a limited number of messages per run; larger archives are supported after signing in with a free Aspose account or upgrading to a paid tier.

Retention period

Uploaded source files and converted DOC/ZIP packages are retained on the server for 24 hours before automatic deletion.
