Our tool converts EML files to Rich Text Format (RTF) by extracting the message body and preserving its original formatting. All paragraph styles, bold/italic/underline, lists, tables, font colors, and clickable hyperlinks remain intact in the resulting .rtf document. — Only the email body is converted; headers, attachments, and inline images are omitted. —
When the .eml contains an HTML body, the converter maps paragraph breaks, bold, italic, underline, ordered and unordered lists, simple tables, font families and font colours into equivalent RTF codes. The resulting .rtf displays the same layout in WordPad, Word, Outlook, LibreOffice Writer and TextEdit.
Web URLs and mailto: links that appear in the email body are kept as active hyperlinks in the generated RTF. Both the visible text and the target address remain intact, so opening the .rtf in WordPad, Word, Outlook or LibreOffice Writer lets the reader click to navigate or compose an email.
All characters from the email body, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic and other Unicode ranges, are stored in the RTF using standard Unicode escape sequences. No characters are lost; correct rendering depends only on fonts available on the viewer’s system.
The tool extracts and converts only the message body, leaving out envelope headers (From, To, Subject, Date), attachments, inline images, external image references and calendar invitations. This produces a lightweight .rtf that contains just the readable content for quick review or repurposing.
