Description of formats

IGS
(Initial Graphics Exchange Specification)
Neutral file format used for the exchange of 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) data between different software applications and platforms. It contains information about the geometry, topology, and attributes of 3D models, making it an important standard for interoperability and collaboration in the engineering and manufacturing industries. IGES was first introduced in 1979 and is still widely used today, although it has been largely superseded by other file formats like STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data).
SVG
(Scalable Vector Graphics)
An XML-based vector image format for defining 2D graphics with supports for interactivity and animation.
SVG images are defined in a vector graphics format and stored in XML text files. SVG images can be scaled in size without loss of quality. SVG files can be searched, indexed, scripted, and compressed. The XML text files create and edits by text or vector graphics editors, and renders by the most popular web browsers.
