Excel metadata editor. The application is intended for editing the metadata of Excel documents. First, let me explain what metadata is. Metadata is special additional information within your Excel document that can store various information. For example: the date the document was created, the date the document was last edited, which application created the document, the format of the document, etc. In addition, some file formats support custom metadata: for example, you can write your own information, such as "Document type" = "Invoice" or "CV", in the document metadata yourself. You can view document metadata not only with special programs: modern operating systems also show the metadata of your file. In Windows, open File Explorer, find your Excel document, right-click the file and select "Properties": you will see the document properties window with its metadata.
You can edit Excel document metadata on any operating system: Windows, macOS, Linux or Android. Open the application page for editing metadata in a web browser, select the file, edit the required metadata and click the "Save" button. In a moment, you will receive a link to download the processed document.

How to edit Excel file metadata

Open the free Metadata app in your browser.
Click inside the file drop area to upload your Excel file or drag and drop it.
The file will be rendered automatically so you can view and edit its metadata.
Save your changes by clicking the Save button.
Download the updated Excel file.
Open the file in Acrobat and check its properties: all fields will be set correctly.
You can also send a link to the Excel file to your email address.
Note that the files will be deleted from our servers after 24 hours and the download links will stop working.
